1972 VW Beetle 1300
Welcome to the sale of “Nigel’s Beetle.”
We’ve called it that because since 1979 when Nigel bought it from the original owner (receipt included in pics!) it has been Nigel’s Beetle. A bit of a rare thing for a car that’s over 50 years old!
I’ve been around aircooled cars for more the 25 years and have written for VolksWorld magazine for over 20 and you get a feel for them. Nigel’s is a good one. Just look at how it presents. A very honest and original car.
Back in the early 2000s it had a small bump and Nigel tried to save it through his insurance - they didn’t value it as much as he did hence it was sold back to him with a Cat C and he replaced the rear bumper and deck lid himself! Kind of irrelevant on a car like this but good for clarity.
It was fitted with a new remtec motor in 2003 and the receipt is included.
Nigel kept the car mot’d right the way up until 2020 with not a single advisory since 2005!
It’s available now at below market value as it will need heater channels and there’s some rust visible on the NSR in the corner under the rear seat. Everywhere else on the car is in great shape including floors, inner wings, spare wheel well, rear quarters etc.
The interior is looking good with just a small tear central on the driver seat, but just look at those super rare removable hi-back dealer accessories on the seats!
I put some fresh plugs in and the engine purrs but will need further recommissioning ideally. Everything feels nice and tight out on the road, just as you’d expect with a car with this history.
Fantastic winter project if you’re in the market for one!
Available for viewing anytime by appointment.
