1969 MGC GT
Coming out of long term storage in a private collection, this MGC GT is accompanied with striking history and provenance.
The car was purchased by the current owner in 1990 just four years after a major overhaul of the body, paint and motor at Paul Matty Sports Cars in Bromsgrove. With only five previous owners (two of which are father and daughter) the car has only covered 10,000 miles since the work and presents in a wonderful condition, save from some wear to the carpet just behind the driver seat. The engine bay is immaculate, as is the retrimmed brown leather seating with cream piping. Further class has been added with walnut dash trim.
It’s the original documentation that sets this car apart from any other. Purchased new from the factory in July 1969, the owner worked in finance at Longbridge and used the British Leyland Management Plan to buy the car. As part of the deal, he was required to keep a record of how the car performed. The results are a museum level portfolio of handwritten notes and mileage logs for every drop of fuel in the car’s first year of life.
Amongst the stack of invoices are many MOT certificates tracing back to the early 80s and confirming the vehicle’s mileage at 138,000 from new - barely 2,500 miles per year!
In November 2012, the MGC was treated to new front floor pans and a near side castle section at renowned specialist, Colne Classics, Clacton-on-Sea.
The car still presents in a wonderful condition and would make for the perfect weekend cruiser or Cars & Coffee star of the show.
